In 1855 Levi-Strauss & Co was founded, and four years later their first waist-overalls were brought out on the market. The garment was primarily adjusted to the adventurers of the gold rush, since there was a need for durable and cheap working clothes. Since then, Levi's has grown to be the by far biggest manufacturer of jeans in the world.
